Lazio president Claudio Lotito underlined the ambitions of the team ahead of the new season, asking the fans for their proud support.

The Biancocelesti’s summer transfer window started slowly but picked up earlier this month, with the team picking up a number of new arrivals including Alessio Romagnoli, Marcos Antonio, Nicolo Casale and Matteo Cancellieri. Fans are excited ahead of the new campaign and a top four fight seems incredibly likely now.

Speaking to the fans at Auronzo di Cadore (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) yesterday, Lotito first asked the fans for their support in the upcoming season.

First of all I want to thank you for your presence because it gives strength to our club. In Piazza del Popolo I promised that I would set up a competitive team, slowly we are succeeding.

Now it is up to you to show the strength of our club’s history with your presence. The boys need love, support and stimulation.

Lotito then underlined the importance of the support to the players and the need to stick behind the team as they fight for their objectives.

On the pitch, in addition to demonstrating the quality of our game, we must fight under the flag of our colours and our symbol, a proud eagle that can decide what is our destiny.

As Lazio has always done. We want you to support our team, you will see that we will give you great satisfaction.

The boys are determined and united, they will fight for our colours with merit, respect and the desire to prove that we are the first team in the capital.

The top four fight is shaping up to be extremely intense next season, with the usual suspects like Juventus, Inter and Milan all expecting to finish somewhere in the top three.

This leaves a weakened Napoli, a significantly strengthened Roma and an improved Lazio to fight for the final Champions League qualification spot.
