Lazio are in talks with former Real Madrid full back Marcelo, keen to pick up the Brazilian on a free transfer this summer.

The Biancocelesti are still looking for a new left back as Maurizio Sarri only has Elseid Hysaj and Adam Marusic to fill the position. One target has long been Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri, but unsurprisingly a move looks unlikely at this point, forcing the Roman club to look elsewhere.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TMW) details how Lazio have approached Marcelo to discuss a possible free transfer to the Italian capital following his departure from Real Madrid. The 34-year-old is now a free agent, and he’s open to playing under Maurizio Sarri.

The Brazilian full back is asking for a three-year deal with a salary of around €2.5m net per season, figures that are forcing Lazio to consider the deal carefully.

The Biancocelesti are interested but they’re a little anxious about the player’s physical condition, considering that he only started five La Liga games last season under Carlo Ancelotti.
