Lazio are still searching for a new backup goalkeeper and have identified Atalanta’s Marco Sportiello as a strong option.
The Roman club’s first choice option is Spezia’s Ivan Provedel, but talks with the Ligurian club are moving forward extremely slowly and a deal may not be reached after all. An agreement has already been reached with the Italian but Spezia are playing tough negotiators, making things uncertain.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio are now looking around for possible alternatives to Provedel and have identified Atalanta backup Sportiello as a strong option. The 30-year-old Italian’s contract expires with the Bergamo side next year and he could leave this summer for as low as €2 million.
Last season, the 30-year-old Sportiello only made five Serie A appearances, for a total of 450 minutes. He kept two clean sheets and conceded five goals, remaining backup behind first choice option Juan Musso.
