Vecino a Step Away From Joining Lazio After Verbal Agreement

Matias Vecino is on the verge of signing a three-year contract with Lazio after a verbal agreement was reached.

The Biancocelesti are still looking to strengthen their squad a little ahead of the rapidly approaching Serie A season and one area that Maurizio Sarri has requested a reinforcement is the midfield, with the Italian coach wanting another rotation option.

As reported by La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Vecino has declined offers from both other Italian clubs and abroad as he waits to sign a three-year deal with Lazio, which’ll see him earn around €2 million net per season.

Sporting director Igli Tare and president Claudio Lotito would first like to get rid of Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro and Sofian Kiyine, but they could still finalise the deal for the Uruguayan midfielder regardless, similar to what they did with Alessio Romagnoli.

Updates are expected in the coming days, with Sarri pushing to have his new midfielder as soon as possible.
