Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro could return to Toulouse after being seemingly frozen out of the Lazio squad by Maurizio Sarri.
The 29-year-old Ivorian midfielder and defender Francesco Acerbi were not called up by Sarri for the pre-season retreat in Germany, suggesting that both will soon be on their way out of the Roman club. Acerbi handed in his transfer request at the end of the season and Akpa Akpro has never particularly convinced the Italian coach.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Akpa Akpro is pushing for a move abroad and seems set to make a return to Toulouse, his hometown and the club he spent most of his career with.
The midfielder was a product of Toulouse’s youth system and made 132 appearances for the first team before departing in 2017, after his contract expired. It’s likely that he’ll return on a loan deal, which’ll most probably also contain an option or obligation to buy clause.
