Matias Vecino is expected to put pen to paper on his contract with Lazio later this week after an agreement was reached between the parties.
The Biancocelesti are closing in on their 7th signing of the summer transfer window after weeks of talks with the Uruguayan midfielder’s entourage. Lazio registered their interest in Vecino earlier this summer before returning to the charge recently.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Vecino has agreed to sign a three-year deal with Lazio with an option for a fourth, worth around €1.5m net per season. He initially asked for around €1.9m but eventually agreed to the lower figures. The final details, like agent commissions, are now being ironed out.
Lazio are also working to re-home Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro but Vecino is expected to arrive regardless, similar to how Alessio Romagnoli signed for the club before the departure of Denis Vavro was confirmed.
Sarri remembers Vecino well from their brief time together at Empoli years ago and the 30-year-old seems like he’d be a reliable backup option in Rome.
