Jony has returned to Real Sporting de Gijon after officially completing a one-year loan deal from Lazio.
The 31-year-old Spaniard spent last season on loan with Real Sporting, where he found a little more success before suffering a frustrating muscle injury. Lazio did not register Jony to their squad last season, leaving him isolated until the January transfer window.
As announced by Sporting Gijon, Jony has now returned to the Spanish club on loan again. His contract expires with Lazio next year, so he’ll most likely leave on a free transfer next summer.
The Spaniard joined the Roman club in July 2019 from Malaga in a deal worth around €2m. He never particularly impressed in the Italian capital, where he made 32 appearances across all competitions. He provided four assists for Lazio but failed to convince both Simone Inzaghi and Maurizio Sarri.
Jony will be hoping for a more positive 12 months following a difficult three-year spell with Lazio.
