Ivan Provedel is expected to sign for Lazio early next week after an agreement was finally found with Spezia.
The Biancocelesti have been working hard to pick up a new backup shot stopper this summer and they’ve had their sights sight on the 28-year-old Italian for a while now, appreciating his strong performances last campaign with Spezia. Talks have not been easy, but things are finally in the final stages.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio have agreed to pay Spezia around €2.5m for Provedel, picking up a sizeable discount on his agent commissions.
Barring any bureaucratic surprises, Provedel’s medicals with the Roman club will be pencilled in for Monday next week. If these are all clear, he’ll put pen to paper on his contract and be at Maurizio Sarri’s disposal ahead of the rapidly approaching season.
Provedel seems to have a serious shot of fighting for the starting spot with Luis Maximiano, putting in a number of impressive performances last season for Spezia.
