Atalanta have reportedly come forward to register their interest in Lazio outcast Francesco Acerbi, who has also heavily been linked with a move to Inter.

The 34-year-old Italian centre back was not called up by Maurizio Sarri for the Biancocelesti’s pre-season retreat in Grassau, Germany, being left behind in Rome alongside Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro. Both players are on the transfer list and are incredibly likely to depart this summer.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Atalanta have registered their interest in Acerbi and are keen on making a move for the 34-year-old this summer. The Bergamo side have been thrown a curveball following the failed doping test by defender José Luis Palomino, so a low-cost defensive reinforcement seems like a good idea.

Inter are still interested too, but are waiting to see what happens with other targets first. Both parties are also hesitant due to Acerbi’s €2.5 million net per season salary, as well as his €4-5 million price tag.
