Luis Maximiano Gets off to Slow Start to Life With Lazio

Luis Maximiano has not had a flying start to life with Lazio, reportedly showing a number of limitations and flaws following his arrival.

The 23-year-old Portuguese shot stopper joined the Biancocelesti from Granada earlier this summer in a deal worth around €10 million and he put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the club. Lazio are hoping that Luis Maximiano can be their new long term number one, but his start hasn’t exactly been convincing.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Luis Maximiano has not particularly impressed Maurizio Sarri following his arrival, showing some flaws and issues with his game. The 23-year-old is clearly not comfortable with his feet and his positioning leaves a little to be desired, leaving him caught out when facing long-range shots.

Luis Maximiano clearly needs some dedicated one-on-one training ahead of the Serie A season, similar to what happened with Thomas Strakosha last campaign. The club obviously have faith in the Portuguese goalkeeper, but the start of the season is rapidly approaching.
