Alfons Sampsted has reportedly attracted the attention of Lazio, Aston Villa, Olympique Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen after a strong campaign with Bodo/Glimt.
The 24-year-old Icelandic right back played a key role for the Norwegian side last season, playing every available minute in their Europa Conference League run, where he scored the key extra time equaliser in the second leg of the Round of 16 against AZ Alkmaar.
As reported by journalist Ekrem Konur, Lazio are one of four clubs keen on picking up Sampsted this summer, with Aston Villa, Olympique Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen all also keeping a close eye on the Icelandic right back.
Sampsted’s contract expires with Bodo/Glimt in December of this year, so the 24-year-old could be signed in a fairly low-cost deal. He has an estimated market value of around €1.2m and can also play on the left side of the defence, making him tactically flexible.
Lazio are still looking for a new full back this summer and Sampsted could be the perfect option, adding talent to the squad but keeping costs down.
