Emerson Agrees Personal Terms With Lazio, Talks With Chelsea Ongoing

Lazio have reportedly reached an agreement with Emerson Palmieri and now must find a deal with Chelsea.

The Biancocelesti are desperately looking to provide coach Maurizio Sarri with a new left back ahead of the start of the upcoming season. Current role incumbents are the unconvincing Elseid Hysaj, the adapted Adam Marusic and the veteran Stefan Radu, so a reinforcement is clearly needed.

As reported by Il Tempo (via LazioNews24), Emerson has now agreed personal terms with Lazio, agreeing to drop his salary from €3m net per season to €2.5m in order to help facilitate a move, something he also did last year to push forward the loan to Lyon.

Lazio now need to agree a deal with Chelsea. They’re looking to offer a loan deal with a buy option attached, but the Blues would prefer that to be an obligation to buy clause, so they can avoid the risk of having to negotiate his sale next summer when he only has a year left on his contract.

Talks between the two parties are ongoing and there is optimism that a deal can be reached.
