Alex Meret is on the verge of completing a loan move to Spezia, allowing Lazio to close out a deal for Ivan Provedel.
The Biancocelesti have been ready to welcome the Italian shot stopper for a little while now, but they’ve been forced to wait for the Ligurians to find a replacement. For a while this seemed to be Fiorentina’s Bartlomiej Dragowski but no agreement could be found, delaying things.
As reported by Sky Sports Italia (via LazioNews24), Spezia are close to finalising a loan deal for Meret, a move that allows Napoli to finalise a deal for Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga. Once this has been completed, Lazio would also then be able to complete a move for Provedel.
Updates are expected extremely soon now and Provedel’s move to Lazio could be confirmed as early as this weekend.
The 28-year-old Italian shot stopper will then compete with Luis Maximiano in Rome for a starting spot in Maurizio Sarri’s starting lineup.
