Luis Alberto seems set to stay with Lazio now after Sevilla made a move for former Real Madrid midfielder Isco.
The 29-year-old midfielder handed in a transfer request with the Biancocelesti recently in a bid to return to Spain this summer, with Sevilla in particular being his preferred destination. The club were in close contact with Lazio but couldn’t iron out a deal as their offer €15m plus Oliver Torres did not convince.
As noted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Sevilla are incredibly unlikely to make a move for Luis Alberto this summer following their acquisition of Isco, making a stay with Lazio all but guaranteed now.
Maurizio Sarri highlighted the Spanish midfielder’s desire to leave the club but now they’ll have to smooth things over ahead of the season opener against Bologna on August 14.
Last season, Luis Alberto scored five goals and provided 11 assts in 34 league appearances for the Roman club.
