Sarri Satisfied With Lazio After Tough Friendly Loss to Real Valladolid

Maurizio Sarri was satisfied with his Lazio squad despite their defeat in a pre-season friendly against Real Valladolid yesterday.

The Biancocelesti failed to break the deadlock in regular time against the Spanish side, leaving the game to end goalless. A penalty shoot-out followed, which Lazio lost after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Matias Vecino failed to convert their attempts.

As highlighted by LazioNews24, despite suffering a defeat, Sarri was still happy with what he saw on display in the friendly. The defence and midfield worked perfectly in tune together and the backline in particular looked solid, with Patric and Alessio Romagnoli working well together.

Mario Gila also made a great impression, coming on in the second half and being fast and tough on the pitch. He also did well aerially and looks to be a great pickup for the Roman club.

Marcos Antonio put in a good shift and acted as the metronome in the Biancocelesti midfield, giving Sarri something to smile about. He’s set to compete with Danilo Cataldi for a starting spot in Rome but there’s a chance he could truly make it his own this campaign.
