Referee Luca Massimi has been assigned to oversee the first Lazio game of the Serie A season against Bologna.

The Biancocelesti’s 2022-23 season kicks off on Sunday evening this week at the Stadio Olimpico with a tough opener against Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side. Last season, Lazio lost their away match against Bologna 3-0 but won the return match in Rome 3-0, so they’ll be hoping to improve on that result in the upcoming game.

Below is the confirmed officiating team for Lazio vs Bologna:

  • Referee: Massimi
  • Assistant Referees: De Meo – Scarpa
  • Fourth Official: Pezzuto
  • VAR: Ghersini
  • Assistant VAR: Lo Cicero

The 33-year-old Massimi has overseen two Lazio matches in the past, a 2-0 home win over Brescia in the 2019-20 season and a 1-1 away draw with Udinese last season. He’s given three yellow cards to the Roman club.

The Termoli-born referee has also officiated two Bologna games before, a 1-0 away win over Spezia and a 0-0 home draw with Torino, both in the last campaign.
