Ciro Immobile continued his streak of flying starts to a Serie A campaign, netting in his five consecutive season opener with Lazio.
The 32-year-old Italian striker again proved the difference maker for the Biancocelesti in their first game of the 2022-23 campaign on the weekend, a 2-1 win over Bologna. Immobile scored the winning goal in the 79th minute, securing all three points for Lazio and starting the season off strongly.
As highlighted by OptaPaolo, Immobile has now become the fourth player in the three-point era in Serie A to score in five consecutive Serie A season openers, joining Roberto Muzzi, Andriy Shevchenko and Luis Muriel in the exclusive club.
The Lazio talisman started this streak in the 2018-19 campaign, when he scored in a tough defeat to Napoli. The following year he netted a brace against Sampdoria, and one against Cagliari the year after. Last season Immobile kicked things off with a goal against Empoli and his goal against Bologna on Sunday continued the streak.
