Maximiano Suspended & Immobile Fined After Lazio Win vs Bologna

Luis Maximiano has been handed a one-game suspension and Ciro Immobile has been fined following Lazio’s 2-1 win over Bologna on Sunday.

The Biancocelesti’s 2022-23 campaign did not get off to a great start as new signing Maximiano was handed a red card after only six minutes, having handled the ball outside the penalty area. Despite being 1-0 down and down to 10 men, Lazio fought back and eventually pulled off a 2-1 comeback.

As announced by the Serie A sporting judge (via LazioNews24), Maximiano has received a one game suspension as a result of his red card for “touching the ball with his hands outside his own penalty area, preventing an opponent from going to goal.”

Immobile was handed a €1500 fine after receiving a yellow card for dissent – the penalty was aggravated due to the fact that he’s the club captain.

Maximiano’s suspension gives fellow new signing Ivan Provedel the opportunity to make his first Serie A start for Lazio, even if his debut was essentially an entire match.
