After a difficult summer in Rome, Luis Alberto and Maurizio Sarri have made peace and are ready to move forward together again.

The 29-year-old Spanish midfielder handed in a transfer request earlier this summer, making his desire to return to Spain clear. Lazio were open to a sale to Sevilla, but a deal between the two clubs couldn’t be agreed, causing a possible move to collapse.

Sarri did not start Luis Alberto in Lazio’s season opener against Bologna, but he did play well when coming off the bench, contributing to Ciro Immobile’s winning goal.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Luis Alberto had a frank discussion with Sarri recently, where both parties clarified their positions and made their intentions to move forward together clear.

The two want to shine for Lazio and the coach wants to see the Spaniard at his best again, even if competition from Toma Basic and Matias Vecino could limit his opportunities.

Sarri has a few options in mind for how to use Luis Alberto in the Lazio midfield, so the Spaniard could be seen in slightly different roles this campaign.
