Lazio Looking To Tie Down Milinkovic-Savic to Lucrative New Deal

With the summer transfer window starting to draw to a close, Lazio are preparing to offer star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic a lucrative new contract.

The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder seemed almost destined to depart this summer, with major European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United both incredibly keen to add the star to their squads. Ultimately, similar to years prior, a transfer away never materialised despite all the noise.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio do not expect to sell Milinkovic-Savic this month and they’re now preparing to offer the midfielder a new contract in a bid to secure his future.

The 27-year-old’s current deal expires in 2024 and the Biancocelesti are hoping to push this back by a few years, bumping his wages to €4m net per season and adding a release clause in the process.

Initial indications suggest that it’ll be difficult to convince Milinkovic-Savic to sign a new deal, but the club will make a serious attempt regardless, wary of a possible free transfer in 2024.
