Lazio failed to get off the ground in an edgy and tiring goalless draw against hosts Torino this evening.
The Biancocelesti were hungry to follow up their season opener win with a more impressive display against the Granata, but their work on the training ground failed to transmit to the pitch, leaving the team looking unconvincing and lethargic.
Luckily for Maurizio Sarri’s side, Torino failed to take advantage of their solid performance, allowing the Biancocelesti to escape with a point after a fairly drawn-out affair.
Torino and Lazio shared a tense and gritty first half, with neither side managing to look particularly dominant in the warm summer evening glow. The Granata held a slight advantage over the Biancocelesti, having 53% of the ball and taking five shots to Lazio’s one, but none of their attempts were on target.
Neither side could break the deadlock before the half time break, leaving things goalless heading into the second 45 minutes.
Things livened up after the half time break and both sides started to push forward a little, although still neither could find the final product, keeping things level.
Lazio were forced to accept a point after a tiring match against Torino, leaving them frustrated considering the winnable nature of the match. Their next game is against Inter on 26th August.
