Acerbi Edges Closer to Inter Move but Fans Raise Concerns

Francesco Acerbi is edging closer to completing his much-anticipated move to Inter but some of their fans aren’t too happy about the imminent arrival of the Lazio man.

The 34-year-old Italian centre back handed in a transfer request at the end of last season after a difficult campaign but has turned down approaches from both Torino and Monza in recent months, waiting for Simone Inzaghi’s Inter to swoop in. The Nerazzurri finally made a concrete move earlier this week, kicking things off in the final days of the transfer window.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio and Inter are now discussing the details of a possible deal for Acerbi, with the Biancocelesti open to a loan deal with a buy option attached, facilitating a transfer to Lombardy.

Some Nerazzurri fans are not too keen about the idea of picking up the 34-year-old, however, with complaints being raised on social media. A hashtag on Twitter (#AcerbiNonLoVogliamo), translating to ‘we don’t want Acerbi’, began trending, with fans clearly underlining their opposition.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that things are moving ahead well between the two clubs and only the figures need to be discussed now. Lazio have also asked Acerbi to waive his July and August wages.
