Maurizio Sarri may leave Luis Alberto on the bench for Lazio’s upcoming match against Inter, leaving the Spaniard out for three consecutive matches.
The 29-year-old midfielder handed in a transfer request earlier this summer in a bid to return to the Iberian peninsula, but a move to Sevilla never came off as they failed to agree a deal with the Biancocelesti. It’s clear that Luis Alberto will not be leaving Lazio this summer, keeping him in Rome for another year most likely.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Sarri decided not to start Luis Alberto in Lazio’s opening two games of the season and he could bench the Spaniard again for the next match against Inter.
The former Liverpool man clearly needs to win back the trust of the Italian coach again, an issue that arose multiple times last year.
Luis Alberto came off the bench against both Bologna and Torino, and he helped contribute to a goal against the former.
