Lazio vs Inter: Match Preview, Expected Lineups, Team News

Lazio face their first tough test of the campaign as they host Simone Inzaghi’s Scudetto hungry Inter this weekend.

The Nerazzurri have started their season well, picking up wins over Lecce and Spezia, and they’ll be looking to make a statement against Maurizio Sarri’s side. Inter finished just two points behind intercity rivals Milan in the league table last season, so they’ll be desperately looking to secure every possible point as they work to reclaim the title.

Lazio’s campaign has started a little more shakily, with a 2-1 comeback win over Bologna and 0-0 draw against Torino not proving particularly convincing. Sarri will be hoping for a strong response from his squad against Inter, a match that’ll truly test their skills.

The match between Lazio and Inter kicks off at 20.45 local time at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Inter vs Lazio: Team News

Maurizio Sarri has a healthy Lazio squad available to him for tomorrow’s clash, with Pedro returning from injury and Luis Maximiano coming back into the squad after his one-match suspension.

Things are much the same for Simone Inzaghi, whose only Inter absence is Henrikh Mkhitaryan, out with a left thigh muscle issue. The rest of his squad is fit and fired up ahead of the clash.

Expected Starting Lineups

As usual, Sarri has a few doubts up and down the pitch. Starting in defence, Nicolo Casale could finally start over Patric alongside Alessio Romagnoli, but the Spaniard seems to be the preference for the time being. Luis Alberto will be hoping to start over Matias Vecino in the midfield but this also seems unlikely, and Pedro could edge out Felipe Anderson in the starting lineup.

Inzaghi’s focus is on his wing backs; Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian will both be hoping to start on the right side and Federico Di Marco and Robin Gosens are competing on the left side on the pitch.

Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari, Patric, Romagnoli, Marusic; Milinkovic-Savic, Cataldi, Vecino; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni.

Inter (3-5-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Dimarco; Lukaku, Lautaro.
