Felipe Anderson highlighted Lazio’s growth ahead of the upcoming clash against Inter and recalled his favourite goal against the Nerazzurri.
The 29-year-old Brazilian winger has started the 2022-23 campaign fairly slowly, failing to contribute to a goal in the opening two fixtures. He’ll be hoping to open his account for the season tonight against Inter, an opponent he’s scored against five times in the past, including in last season’s 3-1 win.
Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via LazioNews24), Felipe Anderson first underlined the uniqueness of this season and the difficulties it poses.
It will be a different season from the others. We know the difficulty of the Italian league, all the top teams, including Lazio, will aim to win as many games as possible between now and the World Cup break.
We will aim to do well especially at home, where we always have the support of our wonderful fans. They are our strength, together we can do great things
He underlined the difficulties of tonight’s opponents Inter.
It’s always been difficult against them, but we have been growing since the second half of last season and this campaign we’ve started well and compact.
We must always aim to win every game. Obviously we can still improve, especially in the offensive phase.
The 29-year-old winger reflected on his favourite goal against the Nerazzurri.
Definitely the second goal of the brace scored in Milan in December 2014, I was in a fantastic moment.
The goal came after a sprint at speed, I always like to watch it again. The important thing though is that Lazio win, that’s why I work to score more and help the team.
He commented on his growth over the last 12 months in Rome under Maurizio Sarri.
Compared to before, I participate more in both phases of the game and I’m happy about that. Football changes in many aspects every year, so you have to adapt to try to improve.
In football you always learn, no matter what age you are.
Finally, Felipe Anderson spoke about how it felt to be the Brazilian with the most appearances ever for Lazio.
I am proud to carry the Brazilian flag high in the Lazio shirt. This is a dream for me and for my family, I thank God because we still have a long way to go together.
