Acerbi to Inter Imminent After Total Agreement With Lazio

Francesco Acerbi is expected to complete his move from Lazio to Inter next week following a recent agreement between the two clubs.

The Nerazzurri have been looking for a last minute defensive reinforcement for the last few weeks and the Biancocelesti exile was one of three targets alongside Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji. Acerbi was the cheapest and easiest to acquire of these three options, something which has ultimately proven decisive.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Inter are finally ready to finalise the loan deal with Lazio for Acerbi, which is expected to be completed either tomorrow or on Tuesday.

The deal has already been set up over the last few days, with only a few final details remaining, and the Nerazzurri are ready to welcome the 34-year-old Italian defender on a free loan.

Acerbi agreed to waive his July and August wages in order to facilitate the move, something that Claudio Lotito had hoped Inter would be willing to pay. The decision to give up on these earnings has unblocked the situation and the transfer is now only a step away from completion.

During his four years with Lazio, Acerbi made 173 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists. He helped the side win a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana.
