Mateja Kezman, agent of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Adam Marusic, expressed disappointment at the treatment of his client Dimitrije Kamenovic by Lazio.
The 22-year-old Serbian defender joined the Biancocelesti last summer from FC Cukaricki in a deal worth around €3 million. Crucially, Kamenovic occupies one of the two non-EU player slots in the Lazio squad. He has failed to convince coach Maurizio Sarri in Rome and has only made one 44-minute appearance for the club since his arrival.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Kezman discussed the Kamenovic situation at Lazio and his frustration at his client’s treatment.
Unpleasant story. He’s one of the best Serbian talents, I had 10 teams for him. With Sarri he had a chance against Verona. The relationship between me and the club remains strong, but this situation makes me very angry.
He deserves a chance not because I’m his agent, but because he has great potential and he will prove it. At Lazio or elsewhere.
The Serbian agent then spoke about the other talents in the pipeline in his native country.
In Serbia we have a lot of talent. there are some projects, soon they will make themselves known. I still think Lazio are a top club.
Lazio have decided not to cut Kamenovic from the squad this summer, leaving him stuck in Rome yet again. He seems unlikely to break into the first team, but he could be given more chances by Sarri as the season progresses.
As things stand, the 22-year-old looks to be another transfer market misstep by sporting director Igli Tare.
