Immobile Expected to Receive Azzurri Call-up for Nations League Clashes

Ciro Immobile is expected to be called up by Roberto Mancini for Italy’s upcoming Nations League clashes against England and Hungary.

The 32-year-old forward was one of the main scapegoats following the Azzurri’s failure to qualify for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, with many fans and observers frustrated that he couldn’t carry over his club form to the international stage. Immobile’s last Italy goal came against Switzerland in the Euro 2020 group stage.

As highlighted by LazioNews24, Mancini is expected to call up Immobile for Italy’s upcoming two Nations League games against England on 23rd September and Hungary on 26th September. Many expected the Lazio talisman to be sidelined after the World Cup qualification disaster, but for now he’s still part of the Azzurri set-up.

Immobile has never really shown his best for the Italian national team, only scoring 15 goals in 55 games across all competitions. It’s hard to imagine him playing a key role at the Azzurri’s next major tournament, Euro 2024.
