Lazio bounced back from their harrowing loss to Napoli with a dominant showing against a frustrated Feyenoord in their Europa League opener.
The Biancocelesti’s 2-1 defeat to the Partenopei on the weekend was clearly on the team’s mind as they stepped out onto the Stadio Olimpico pitch yesterday, and Maurizio Sarri’s side channelled that anger into a strong performance in their first European clash of the season.
Luis Alberto gave Lazio the lead after only four minutes, finding the back of the net early to put Feyenoord on the back foot. Felipe Anderson followed this up with his own goal in the 15th minute, and Matias Vecino got in on the action before the half-hour mark. The Uruguayan midfielder netted his second just after the hour point, all but confirming the victory.
Two late goals from Feyenoord did little to change their fate and Arne Slot’s side were forced to accept defeat after a tough evening in Rome.
Below is the Lazio squad’s player ratings for their exciting 4-2 win over Feyenoord.
