Toma Basic will not take part in the Europa League clash between Midtjylland and Lazio tomorrow after suffering a calf injury.
The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder has had a limited impact under Maurizio Sarri in Rome following his arrival last summer, only playing 124 minutes of Serie A action across his five appearances. Basic is a talented defensive midfielder but still needs to build a strong understanding of the system in the Italian capital.
As highlighted by LazioNews24, Basic was forced to stop during a Lazio training session in Formello today after feeling some pain in his calf. The club are taking no chances and will not bring the midfielder on their trip to Denmark tomorrow, when they’ll face Midtjylland in their second Europa League clash of the campaign.
The 25-year-old will now undergo a round of medical tests and the club are hopeful that the injury isn’t too serious.
Basic has scored one goal and provided two assists in his 43 appearances across all competitions for Lazio.
