Three Lazio Players Called Up for Italy’s Nations League Clashes

Roberto Mancini has announced his Azzurri squad for the upcoming Nations League games against England and Hungary, including three Lazio players.

Italy are not taking part in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, so their Nations League matches are significantly less important than their European counterparts in England, France and Germany. Despite this, Mancini has mostly stuck to his old favourites, only giving three players their first taste of senior football with the Italian national team.

As noted by LazioNews24, the three Lazio players called up by Mancini are goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, who is making his first appearance with the Azzurri, Ciro Immobile and Matteo Cancellieri.

A few former Biancocelesti players also received the call, like Inter’s Francesco Acerbi and Real Betis’ Luiz Felipe.

Some have suggested that this was a wasted opportunity by Mancini to try out some fresh blood in the Azzurri set-up, especially because the team are not warming up for the World Cup.
