Patric Finds New Lease of Life Under Sarri at Lazio

Patric never managed to truly convince under Simone Inzaghi but he’s revitalised his career under Maurizio Sarri at Lazio.

The 29-year-old Spanish defender has been a part of the Biancocelesti squad since 2015 and was an oft-frustrating figure in Rome, struggling to show his best in Inzaghi’s three-man defence. Since Sarri’s arrival last summer, Patric has exploded and become a core part of the squad, shining in the four-man backline.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Patric has emerged as a leader of Sarri’s four-man defence at Lazio, perfectly slotting in the tactical system and being a key part of the team’s movements both offensively and defensively.

The statistics underline Patric’s growth; he’s completed the most passes in the Biancocelesti squad this season with 365, made the most blocks with 13 and is tied with Alessio Romagnoli for the most clearances at 20. He’s also taken the most touches in the squad with 466, made the second most carries with 289 and received the ball 309 times.

Patric is also a part of the second best defence in Serie A currently alongside Romagnoli as the team have only conceded five goals in their opening seven games, tied with league leaders Napoli.
