Ciro Immobile was forced to return from the Italy camp due to an injury and now he’s in doubt for the upcoming clash between Lazio and Spezia.
The 32-year-old Italian striker was called up by Roberto Mancini for the Azzurri’s Nations League matches against England and Hungary this international break, but he didn’t feature in either game after suffering a slight muscle injury.
Immobile is one of many players to deal with a physical issue over this international break, a symptom of the incredibly busy schedule players are forced to endure.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), medical tests carried out by the Lazio medical staff confirmed that Immobile has suffered a muscle edema. The 32-year-old has already started his recovery process and will undergo a further round of tests on Thursday of this week.
If the treatment has proved successful, the Biancocelesti will need to decide whether he’ll train separately on Thursday or Friday, as the edema must be reabsorbed.
Immobile is in serious doubt for the upcoming game against Spezia on the weekend but he’s hoping to return in time for the Europa League match against Sturm Graz next week.
Maurizio Sarri has no intention of rushing back the Lazio star, aware of the busy month ahead of the squad before the World Cup break in November.
