Alessandro Nesta suggested that Lazio and Roma will have similar seasons and praised Alessio Romagnoli for deciding to make the move to the Italian capital this summer.
The 27-year-old Italian centre back ended a seven-year spell with Milan in the summer, leaving on a free transfer at the end of June. Less than two weeks later, Romagnoli put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Lazio, finally joining the club that he’s supported since he was a boy.
Speaking to Corriere della Sera (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Nesta first commented on the similarities between Lazio and Roma in this Serie A season.
Lazio have quality, Roma live on enthusiasm. They’ll have a similar season.
The former Biancocelesti defender then touched on Romagnoli’s decision to join the Roman club on a free transfer in the summer.
At Milan he played several years at a high level anyway. Then newcomers arrived in defence and he played less there.
He made a heartfelt choice, he returned home, to an important club, with a coach who makes his teams play well. For me he did well.
The 27-year-old Romagnoli has shined under Maurizio Sarri this season, quickly becoming a leader in the Lazio backline and forming a strong partnership with Patric. He has appeared in all but one of the team’s games and impressed throughout.
