Agent Rava: ‘Provedel Couldn’t Say No to Lazio After Sarri’s Call’

Agent Gianni Rava reflected on the deal that brought goalkeeper Ivan Provedel to Lazio, highlighting the importance of Maurizio Sarri.

The 28-year-old Italian shot stopper joined the Biancocelesti from Spezia in the summer in a deal worth around €2m, adding an experienced and underrated goalkeeper to Sarri’s squad. Provedel has beaten out Luis Maximiano to become the new number one in Rome, impressing with his consistently strong showings in both Serie A and the Europa League.

Speaking to Il Secolo XIX (via LazioNews24), Provedel’s agent Rava discussed his clients move to Lazio and the call that came from Sarri.

He was wanted by Sarri, an offer that couldn’t be refused. I think it’s in the logic of football that you can’t say no to Lazio if Sarri himself is looking for you.

But the reality is that if this had not been the case, today Provedel would be what he had hoped to be, the captain of Spezia.

The 28-year-old Provedel has immediately found his footing in the Italian capital after joining Lazio in the summer, keeping three clean sheets and conceding only five goals in his first seven Serie A matches with the club.

The underlying numbers also prove the Italian shot stopper’s strong work; he has a post-shot expected goals minus goals allowed of +3.3, a sign of his exciting work between the sticks.
