Lazio president Claudio Lotito thanked the staff and players after the strong 4-0 win over Spezia, drawing attention to the growing project in Rome.
The Biancocelesti appointed Maurizio Sarri last year after the departure of Simone Inzaghi, starting a new cycle in the Italian capital, and things are looking incredibly positive 15 months later. Lazio currently sit 3rd in the Serie A table and their work in the summer was key to fill the gaps and rejuvenate the squad.
Speaking via Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lotito was in high spirits when speaking to the Lazio squad after the win over Spezia.
I thank everyone, Sarri, Tare, the team. With this victory you have once again demonstrated the unity of our family. If you continue to play with this spirit and this compactness, you will give great satisfaction to me and to all the fans.
This is not only my victory, but also yours. For the first time in history Lazio has a representative in the political institutions, in Parliament, and that’s no small thing.
Now that I’m in the government, we can change every wrong. This is no longer a small Lazio, it’s already a great team. We have laid the foundations to do something great and this will not end.
Lazio worked hard in the summer transfer window to satisfy Sarri, bringing in eight new players like Alessio Romagnoli, Ivan Provedel, Marcos Antonio and Matteo Cancellieri.
The Biancocelesti coach is now hoping for a new left back and backup striker in January to complete the squad and give him the options necessary to fight for a top four spot.
