French referee Benoit Bastien has been assigned to officiate the upcoming Europa League clash between Sturm Graz and Lazio.
All four teams in Group F are tied on three points, putting the pressure on the Biancocelesti to pick up a strong result in Austria as they look to fight for progression to the Round of 16.
Lazio’s last outing in the competition was a painful 5-1 loss to FC Midtjylland, a game they’ll be looking to put in the back of their minds with a more positive showing against Sturm Graz.
Below is the full officiating team for Sturm Graz vs Lazio:
- Referee: Benoit Bastien (FRA)
- Assistant referees: Hicham Zakrani (FRA) – Aurélien Berthomieu (FRA)
- Fourth official: Jérémie Pignard (FRA)
- VAR: Rob Dieperink (NED)

The 39-year-old Bastien has never overseen a Lazio match before, but he has overseen games involving Milan, Juventus and Napoli. The Rossoneri lost their game, a 3-1 defeat to Olympiacos, but the Bianconeri and Partenopei both secured wins, against Bayer Leverkusen and FC Midtjylland respectively.
Bastien has never officiated a Sturm Graz match either, although he was involved in Austria Vienna’s 2-1 win over Rosenborg and two draws involving RB Salzburg.
