The next 40 days will be key for Toma Basic as he works to try and break back into the Lazio squad.
The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder has hardly featured this season under Maurizio Sarri, making only two Serie A starts. Basic has slipped down in the midfielder hierarchies following Matias Vecino’s arrival and Luis Alberto’s reintroduction to the fold, leaving him stuck on the sidelines, struggling to play consistent minutes.
As highlighted by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Basic is struggling to make an impact at Lazio this season and is desperate to impress during the run of games leading up to the World Cup break next month.
Sarri is still pushing to sign Hellas Verona’s Ivan Ilic and the Croatian could be at risk of being sold in order to make space for the talented Serb.
Basic has only played 157 minutes of action across all competitions this season and is hoping for more chances to show his qualities as the next few weeks progress.
