Lazio Consider Training Camp in Argentina During World Cup Break

Lazio are considering going on a training retreat in South America during the upcoming break for the 2022 World Cup.

The Serie A season will take a six-week pause during mid-November to allow players to join up with their national teams for the World Cup in Qatar, with the season returning on 4th January 2023. Lazio’s last game before this break is against Juventus on 13th November.

As reported by SportItalia journalist Michele Criscitiello, Lazio are thinking about setting up a training camp in Argentina during the World Cup break, playing in a tournament against Boca Juniors, River Plate and San Lorenzo.

The trophy for this tournament would be presented by Pope Francis. No agreement is in place yet as a few details still need to be ironed out, but initial plans are being drawn up.

Whilst some Biancocelesti will be heading to Qatar for the World Cup, like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic with Serbia and Matias Vecino with Uruguay, the majority of the squad will remain in Rome.
