Kezman: ‘Things Clearer for Milinkovic-Savic After World Cup’

Mateja Kezman, the agent of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, confirmed that contract renewal talks won’t begin until after the upcoming World Cup.

The 27-year-old Serbian star has less than two years left on his current deal with the Biancocelesti and earlier this week rumours again linked Juventus with the player. President Claudio Lotito made it clear that he wants over €100 million for Milinkovic-Savic and is keen to tie down the midfielder to a new deal, but he’ll seemingly have to wait for talks to start.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), Milinkovic-Savic’s agent Kezman first discussed the Juventus rumours and price tag suggested by Lotito.

I think this isn’t the time to discuss the price and transfer of Sergej. Lazio are at the top, the team needs peace.

We all know that immediately after the World Cup some things will be clearer and it will be time to talk about everything.

He then commented on the Serbian star’s possible contract renewal with Lazio.

Milinkovic-Savic only has 18 months left on his contract and, as I said, after the World Cup it will be time to discuss things first with the president and then with everyone else.

In all these years Sergej and I have respected Lazio and president Lotito. I have to think first of the player’s interest and then also of the club’s interest.

The 27-year-old Milinkovic-Savic has been on fire under Maurizio Sarri this season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists in 12 appearances across Serie A and the Europa League. He is continuing to prove himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.
