Lazio stars Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic were included in the top 11 of the 2021-22 Serie A season at the Gran Gala del Calcio.
The event, organised by the Italian Footballers’ Association, awarded the players, coaches and referees who performed the best in the last season. The best overall player was Rafael Leao, the best goalkeeper was Mike Maignan, the best coach was Stefano Pioli and the best team was Milan.
Immobile and Milinkovic-Savic were both voted by players to be included in the top XI of the season, a reward for their impressive efforts on the pitch under Maurizio Sarri. Neither player was present for the event, with Immobile still dealing with an injury and Milinkovic-Savic out for personal reasons.
The Lazio striker was awarded the Capocannoniere award by the AIC for his exploits in front of goal last season, when he netted 27 goals in 31 games.
