Lazio Lose Star Striker to Frustrating Hamstring Injury

Lazio talisman Ciro Immobile has been ruled out of action until 2023 due to a hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old Italian striker was taken off 29 minutes into the Biancocelesti’s 0-0 draw with Udinese on the weekend, visibly pained as he clutched his left thigh. The injury immediately looked serious and concerned Lazio, who often struggle to show their best without their star man.

As announced by Lazio today, medical tests confirmed that Immobile has suffered a medium grade injury to his left hamstring. The 32-year-old has already started specialised treatment and will be monitored on a daily basis.

Whilst further tests will be carried out to examine the seriousness of the injury, it’s clear that Immobile’s 2022 has drawn to a close, ruling him out of the upcoming matches against Atalanta, FC Midtjylland, Salernitana, Feyenoord, Roma, Monza and Juventus.

Lazio will be hoping to recover a fully fit Immobile in time for their first game back after the World Cup break, against Lecce on 4th January.
