Raul Moro explained the reason why he joined Ternana on loan, his experiences at Lazio and the clubs interested in him before he made the move to Rome.
The 19-year-old Spanish forward joined the Serie B outfit on loan in the summer, keen to find regular playing time after a couple of seasons stuck on the bench at the Biancocelesti. Contracted to Lazio until 2025, Moro is a highly touted youngster who is finally making an impact in first team football.
Speaking to Calciomercato.com, Moro first explained why he decided to join Ternana on loan this summer.
I wanted to stay in Italy to stay on Lazio’s radar, here I am close to Rome and Ternana’s 4-3-3 is perfect for my characteristics.
He confirmed that he still keeps a close eye on Lazio.
Of course, I watch them all the time. In Rome there’s my sister who studies at the Foro Italico University, when I go to visit her I also manage to go to the stadium.
The Spanish teenager reflected on his Serie A debut against Juventus in July 2020.
The debut at the first call-up, at 17 years old, I couldn’t believe it. I had started the season with the Primavera team, then the leagues stopped because of COVID and it was difficult for me to train in a small flat.
He reflected on his limited opportunities at Lazio.
Maybe I was a bit unlucky because in the few minutes I played I could have scored two or three goals, you never know what would have happened if I had scored. But I prefer not to think about that. If I’m not mistaken with Lazio I played a total of 360 minutes.
Finally, Raul Moro spoke about some of the other clubs interested in him back in 2019 before he joined Lazio in a deal worth around €6 million.
After my last season in Spain I had many requests. I know that several clubs came to see me, including Chelsea and Inter, but when they knew the price they backed out. Lazio spent €6 million to bring me to Italy, at that time I didn’t even know my market value.
I wish this kid the best man, he is humble and hardworking. You will be back at Lazio in the near future , I’m sure about that!
Forza Raul!
