Lazio president Claudio Lotito has come up with a plan to try and convince Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to put pen to paper on a new deal.

The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder is one of the standout stars in Maurizio Sarri’s Biancocelesti squad and was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester United in the summer. No club could provide a convincing offer but with less than two years left on his current contract, things could change next summer.

As reported by Il Tempo (via LazioNews24), Lazio are desperate to tie down Milinkovic-Savic to a new deal and have come up with a plan; the Serbian midfielder may be offered a one-year extension with a release clause lower than €100 million.

The 27-year-old’s agent Mateja Kezman has made it clear that he won’t open negotiations until after the World Cup in Qatar and the player is currently focused on the pitch, not wanting to be distracted by transfer market noise.
