Nicolo Casale had a slow start to life with Lazio but is now starting to gain the trust of coach Maurizio Sarri.

The 24-year-old Italian centre back joined the Biancocelesti in the summer from Hellas Verona in a deal worth around €7m, being a much-anticipated arrival in the Italian capital. Sarri had highlighted Casale to the Lazio management in the January transfer window but had to wait until the summer to get his man.

As highlighted by Il Tempo (via LazioNews24), Casale had a slow start with Lazio this season, remaining on the bench as Patric and Alessio Romagnoli started to form a strong partnership. Things went from bad to worse when he suffered a brief muscle tear, but now he’s started to settle in the Italian capital.

Sarri started Casale in the 0-0 draw with Udinese earlier this month and was impressed with what he saw, so he gave the 24-year-old another start in the 2-0 win over Atalanta. The Italian centre back rose to the task and put in another great performance, growing Sarri’s trust in the former Hellas Verona man.
