Claudio Lotito has made it clear that Lazio are not looking to sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and has confirmed that a new contract will be offered.
The 27-year-old Serbian star was heavily linked with a move to both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the summer, but ultimately remained in Rome as neither side managed to send in a convincing offer. Milinkovic-Savic is one of the standout stars in Maurizio Sarri’s squad and has already contributed to 10 goals in 11 league games this season.
Speaking to Il Messaggero (via TMW), Lotito discussed the future of Milinkovic-Savic and his market value.
I will not sell Milinkovic-Savic, I will offer him a renewal. I reiterate, he is now worth €120 million, and every month that passes, the price goes up.
Milinkovic-Savic is tied to Lazio until 2024 and the club are keen to tie him down to a new deal ahead of next summer’s transfer window. His agent Mateja Kezman does not want to open contract talks until after the World Cup in Qatar, leaving the Biancocelesti a little anxious.
The star midfielder will be part of the Serbia squad for the tournament and will be hoping to show his qualities on the world stage in Qatar.
