Lazio vs Salernitana: Recent History

Lazio lost talismanic striker Ciro Immobile to a hamstring injury earlier this month but the team have responded well without their captain, beating Atalanta and Midtjylland in tough clashes. Both games will give the squad increased confidence of their abilities without the 32-year-old Italian forward, who is working hard on his recovery.

Salernitana made headlines last week after veteran forward Franck Ribery announced his retirement. On the pitch, the Campania outfit have looked solid this season, beating Spezia and Hellas Verona earlier this month. The team currently sit 11th in the Serie A table.

Last season, Lazio cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win at home and a 3-0 win away against Salernitana.

Lazio vs Salernitana: Team News

Lazio’s only absence is the aforementioned Immobile, sidelined with a hamstring issue. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will need to be careful as he’s currently one suspension away from a one-game ban.

Salernitana cannot count on the injured Giulio Maggiore and Matteo Lovato is also in doubt due to an ankle problem.

Expected Starting Lineups

Maurizio Sarri seems to have settled on a strong Lazio core and this won’t be tinkered with too much for the Salernitana clash, with regular features like Alessio Romagnoli, Danilo Cataldi and Mattia Zaccagni all present. Nicolo Casale will partner with the former Milan captain at the back.

Davide Nicola is set to use an incredibly similar starting 11 to the one that beat Spezia last weekend, although Krzysztof Piątek could come in for Boulaye Dia, who suffered a knee knock in training this week.

Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari, Casale, Romagnoli, Marusic; Milinkovic-Savic, Cataldi, Vecino; Pedro, Felipe Anderson, Zaccagni.

Salernitana (3-5-2): Sepe; Gyomber, Daniliuc, Fazio; Candreva, Coulibaly, Radovanovic, Vilhena, Mazzocchi; Bonazzoli, Piatek.
