Ciro Immobile is desperate to join the Lazio squad for the upcoming Derby della Capitale against Roma.
The 32-year-old Italian striker has been sidelined for the last few weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the 0-0 draw with Udinese. Lazio won their first two outings without Immobile against Atalanta and FC Midtjylland but then suffered a painful 3-1 loss to Salernitana, damaging their confidence a little.
As detailed by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Immobile has been working hard on his recovery and is aiming to join the squad for the derby against Roma, although he’ll start the match on the Lazio bench.
After working in the swimming pool, exercising in the gym and using the exercise bike, Immobile has now started running again. He’ll intensify his recovery from today and will be monitored daily as the club closely follow his progress.
The Roman club are refusing to take any risks with their star striker and even if he’s part of the squad for the derby he may still remain sidelined until 2023.
