Sarri Asks Lazio to Sell Star Midfielder in January

Maurizio Sarri has reportedly asked Lazio president Claudio Lotito to sell divisive midfielder Luis Alberto in January.

The 63-year-old Italian coach and the 30-year-old Spaniard are known to have a rocky relationship and the player has received limited chances this season, only making five Serie A starts across his 12 appearances. Luis Alberto was heavily linked with a move to Sevilla in the summer but a deal failed to materialise.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via TMW), Sarri has reiterated his request to Lotito to sell Luis Alberto in the upcoming January transfer window, keen to change things up in his squad. Selling the Spaniard in the winter would also help Lazio avoid any issues with the liquidity index.

The Biancocelesti president has no intention of selling Luis Alberto, however, so it remains to be seen how the club plan to secure their transfer targets after the World Cup in Qatar.

The 30-year-old has scored four goals and provided two assists in 16 games across all competitions this season.
