Darko Ristic, the agent of Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic, gave his thoughts on Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, his international teammate.
The pair are both part of the Serbia squad heading to Qatar for the upcoming World Cup. A tough group stage awaits the Serie A pair, with Serbia being drawn into a group containing Brazil, Cameroon and Switzerland. Milinkovic-Savic played the full 90 minutes of all three of Serbia’s group games at the 2018 World Cup.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Alfredo Pedulla), Ristic commented on the qualities of Milinkovic-Savic.
Milinkovic-Savic is a very good player, with class. If he leaves, any team will find a big reinforcement. He and Dusan work well together, in the national team, of course.
The 27-year-old Milinkovic-Savic has made 35 caps for the Serbian national team since his debut in November 2017. In that time, he’s scored six goals and provided seven assists.
The World Cup is vitally important for Milinkovic-Savic’s future. His current contract expires with Lazio in 2024 and he’s put a hold to renewal talks until after the tournament. This means that a good World Cup would advertise his qualities on the world stage, putting him at the forefront of the January transfer market.
